    hi all,

I want to move the "Pictures" folder from the boot disk to an external disk, as I have lots of space there and it would save me 8gb . How do I get mac OS to look at the external drive instead of the boot disk ?.

You could just move the folder to the external disk, then replace it with an alias in your home directory.

So move the Pictures folder to where you want to it be, ctl-click it and click "Make Alias". Move the alias back to your home directory and rename it as "Pictures". iPhoto will hopefully follow the link and find its content on your external HDD. Although I haven't tested it so I'm not sure - I think different apps will treat symbolic links/aliases differently.
