Not sure if this should be in the UFC, Pride, etc.. thread, but since the show is going to be on for a few weeks I thought I would make it's own thread if that is ok?

So it started last night in the US and will be shown tonight in Ireland and the UK at 10:00pm on Setanta Sports 2. I did watch a preview show on UFC.com and it looked great.

Good idea. I imagine this will get a lot of posts so better to keep it removed from the main UFC/Pride/MMA thread.

Here is link to a great article on sherdog. Lots of links to fight videos and audition tapes for various fighters on the show.

Just to let people know that if you do watch it on the Thursday (On Spike TV) then don't post results till it airs in the UK. Thanks.

I didn't really like him either until the other day. I read a great interview with him where he talked a lot about having to realise that he was mentally weak and had to overcome that. Gave me a fresh insight into his mind.

I'll go find linkage if you like.

    Please do.

    Linkage

Here you go dude. I found it a rare confession for a weakness a lot of people won't often admit to.

Ah thanks man. I actually read that! Nah still don't like him based on TUF 801 but we'll see how he progresses.

just got around to watching it, and fight night, on track to be a cracking series. fights they showed were exciting indeed. always love the 1st few
eps before the big brotherness kicks in. highlights
the guy fainting and then proving his work :D , that tard not cutting weight, and Mir jumping up impressed saying he broke him mentally after the guy didnt want to go a second round. sorry i wasnt watching closely enough to get names.

quote of the night was from dana white, he was referring to a guy with a fight name of 'Machete' that wasnt any good, "with a name like machete you'd expect him to come out and kick peoples heads off!, it was more like butter knife!"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,803 ✭✭✭dunkamania

Standard seems decent, never was a fan of Mir, the more I see of Nog, the more I like him. Junie looked good. Clay and Rashads bothers were unimpressive.

This thread should be changed to "Spoilers" why else have a Tuf thread if you cant talk bout it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,497 ✭✭✭✭Dragan

I agree, it's pointless to have a thread where people have to wait till long after the airing to be able to talk about it.

From now on read carefully as thread will contain serious spoilers.

I was on about people posting spoilers after it airs in the US. After it is showen the next day on Setanata Sports then people are free to say what they want.

Should be good, do you think Michael Bisping will be Team UK's coach?

I couldn't see how the Armenian guy won that last fight, but I was wondering why there was no timer on screen. I checked back just now and there was a total of seven and a half minutes cut from the fight. So we basically only saw half the fight

The Armenian guy couldn't have done too much damage in the parts not shown though, because Dana and Frank were adamant that he lost. Still, it could have been closer than what we saw

One guy looked real impressive I thought, a small Hispanic guy

The next two episodes are meant to be very good according to people who've seen them

Looking at the preview clips at the end of last nights episode I must ask WTF.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,632 ✭✭✭SuperWoody101

Looks like there is a lot of fights in the house this year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,082 ✭✭✭✭chopperbyrne

The Eliot and Grigoryan (Think that's his name?) fight was clearly heavily edited to show Eliot in good light.
Nogueira explained why he lost in pretty simple terms.

After watching the first few 2 episodes I must say I'm starting to really dislike Mir.

Screaming at fighters to "Cut him" and "brake his arm" on the 1st episode, thanks Frank lets bring the sport back 15 years.

Nog is a class act though, I didnt exoect anything less from him.

junie fights next week, from the trailer at the end of last nights show it looks like it is a stand up war, with the other guy giving him a fare go!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,803 ✭✭✭dunkamania

Nog comes across as pure class, Mir doesnt.

I like the way Nog picked his team based on attitude, so you got a team full of chilled out guys who work well together. In comparison, Mirs team got all the jerks. That being said, Nog's matchmaking is a little bizarre. The first two matchups made sense, but picking Shane vs Elliot, cos Shane wanted the fight probably want that smart a move. Preview looks interesting, all the talk about one of the guys lying bout having a blackbelt. Fight looks brutal too. I hope Junie loses so bad.

:DYea junie is the golden boy in this series, obviously by the fact that on previous series lads that went on like that ie picking fights and acting the boll1x would have been chucked by dana but they allowed junie to stay in.
I saw the previews for next week and my impression was that junie was getting as good as he gave.Im surprised as junie seemed alot bigger and more skilled than the lad he fights(the apparnet fake BJJ black belt).Would be great though to see junie get an ass whooping and sent back to the trailer park in kentucky...not before he gets drunk again though and starts on the world!!

Apparently Junie is the guy who Dana called the next Anderson Silva... If he wins his fight real quick then it's almost certainly him, because that's what Dana said he did in his first fight on the actual show

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 237 ✭✭stevemc01

The more I watch of this series the more I hate Framk Mir and thats asshole Junie.

Boh of them need to be taken down a peg or 2.

The clips at the end of the last episode where Mir is quizzing the guy on nogs team about his black belt......."Who gave you your black belt? Who gave you your black belt?" I just hoping this guys answer is "Your ould one" (In a Dublin accent would be perfect).

yeah the black belt looks to be givin him a good go which is surprisin because he looked terrible in his first fight but theres always editing to make it look better so you never know really

It would be great if the other dude that Junie is supposed to fight next week is the guy Dana was calling the new Anderson Silva. Especially since it seems that Mir and Junie question his jiu-jitsu black belt. It would be classic if the guy was badass and destroyed Junie~!

I doubt it. The only other guy who fits with the age that Dana said would be Phillipe Nover, and he's undefeated like Junie is too. It's got to be one of them I think
