    I read about this in the Sun newspaper the other day. they had a big picture of a humpback whale :rolleyes:

    One of my dreams is to see the blue whale in person. Looks like I may not need to travel that far.
    And to think I taught I was great after seeing a basking shark off Lambay island.

    If a basking shark appeared in Dublin bay the Sun would have a picture of a great white. :D

    Yes they probably would. Although I remember seeing a photo on the front of the Irish Times of a Black headed Gull in Stephens green. It was identified as such and the caption was that the appearance of gulls inland was further proof of climate change and food shortage at sea.Back heads are of course typically inland gulls. So there are idiots everywhere. Still great to see Blue whales off our coast.

    I remember when an albatross showed up in britain several years ago the tabloids interpreted it as a sign of the impending apocalypse. I kid you not.
