and anything else , thanks !!!!

    :)

No you don't have to go abroad at all. Only European studies students are obliged to go abroad.

Apperently two lanaguage through TSM is very tough going and can be quite monotonous.

I've a friend who does Spanish and Russian and says it is quite tough, but enjoyable, though she does get frustrated with it regularly.

    And CSLLs.

TSM language students are required to spend a minimum of 2 months abroad over the duration of the course though. As far as I know it doesn't necessarily have to be spent in a university. I'm not sure of this as I'm European Studies and we have no choice.

Actually only CSLF and CSLG have to go abroad.
They abandoned the CSLI year in Scotland 5 years ago now.

Not entirely dissimilar to Oil and water, the above are, unfortunately, immiscible. :o

I'm doing two languages too. German and Spanish. But was thinking of applying for a transfer and doing one language and some other subject because i don't know if i can put up with two languages and i'd like a bit of variety...

so what i can gather that to languages in TSM is tough going but with European Studies it's easier to digest?

I wouldn't mind either just that points are so EFFORT for European Studies!!!!

Yeah, as far as I know they do. There usually aren't that many Euro Studies Russian students - only 4 last year.

I wouldn't say so. In European Studies you have a lot of other stuff to worry about as well as your languages.

Yes, they do, completely. I'm not sure about any divides between TSM/ES with other languages, but because Russian has such small numbers, the two classes are practically indistinguishable. And this year's rising SS TSM/ES Russian students are inseparable as a group, but that might just be their particular group dynamic.

I will be doing German as part of my TSM but am considering applying for a transfer to do russian. Could anyone who does one or both of these subjects tell me what they're like? I think I'd find Russian more interesting but I'd hate to transfer and realise that it wasn't as good a course as German. German is a safer option for me. I've looked on the website and Russian seems appealing but I'd love to hear from students of German and Russian for their opinions too.
