Do you want to order your books:
    • on your own ($8.42)
    or
    • in bulk with others to reduce delivery cost?

In case of bulk order and delivery, there'll be possibility to collect the book from Dublin center, here, Dublin 12 (me) or other towns as offered here and here. I should be able to go to few cities and town to deliver the whole lot for that county/region. Fell free to volunteer, please.

Please, vote only if you are registered for this project. Thank you.

How would you like to order your mandatory copy of Boards.ie Photo Book of the 2008? 49 votes

In bulk with others and I will arrange collection from predefined locations.

I think collection is the best way to go about it. I'm in Dublin too so prob no point in offering.

I'm on the stand by list so wont vote, but i'd go for the third option of don't mind either way ;)

    For everybody:
That is the worst answer you could give. We have to count heads to get the pricing estimate as close to reality as possible. If you could collect it personally from Dublin, please, vote.

Sorry, just meant that I'd go along with the majority.... so the majorities choice'd be one more in the majority (and thats how i'd count all abstaining votes as well)

Anyway back on topic.... if I do get off standby, I'll be voting for the option of collection.

If we go for individual delivery do we not also loose our 10% bulk discount?

If we were going for the bulk order option I would be happy to hold any books destined for the Kildare/Midlands area, if thats any help.

Well, if the total delivery cost is $8.42, then that's only $0.84 or not much more than 50-60c of a difference.

I voted for bulk delivery as much because it gives people a chance to meet and go "Oooohhh...aahhhhh" about each other's work.

From an economic point of view, I don't know if it's that big a difference.

Or am I missing something? Is the 10% on the total book cost or something?

Total cost of the book IIRC, so another €2/3 on the price difference.

    ???
If you make your own order, the price of delivery is $8.42. If we order in bulk, the price would be for 100 books:
softcover: $169.63 divided by 100 people - do your own math :-)
hardcover: $303.65 divided by 100 people - do your own math :-)

The more we save the more we can send to SSF.

I'll collect in Dublin. I'm also happy to collect a bunch for distribution in the West, if it's any help.

Ok, so I voted for group delivery because it seemed the cheaper option even though the logistics were awkward, but now I've read Sheesh's post in the Money thread, this seems to make more sense.

What I'm not sure of is the financial implications of this, can someone clarify if for example enough people want to order in Dublin or Waterford or wherever, they could qualify for a bulk discount, whereas if someone like me in Sligo wants to order one copy from the website, they can do so, forego the bulk discount and get the book delivered to their door.

I think what I mean is that it would suit me much better to have the book delivered to me (certainly cheaper than driving to Dublin or Westport - Thanks for the offer though, Oscar) but if by opting out, I'm costing the majority of people the discount, then I will suck it up and make the necessary arrangements.

I've been round and round the blurb site and I'm getting dizzy! If this is blindingly obvious, someone please kick me:D

In that case, there is nothing easier than to offer yourself as a "delivery person in xxxxx region" and get people from that area together. I am in Dublin area so I will be more active in Bulk order - Dublin.

Discount 10% is on orders from 10 to 199 books. And it is reasonable.

I will appreciate if there are people from other towns and cities interested in local delivery. If there are not enough people, we can try to arrange delivery from Dublin. But a common sense must be applied :-)

It is only up to you, if you want to make it happen.

Cool, I'll nominate myself as the delivery depot for the North West then, if there are 9 more, otherwise I'm happy to go solo.

for me it would be easiest to just get it myself as i am in school weekdays until 6 and work weekends so i'm not sure when i would be able to make it into town as i usually only get my weekend hours on a thursday evening.

Probably not enough numbers to make it worthwhile, but I can take books for anyone west of the Shannon and Midlands area.

No need for that: I've a colleague lives in Greystones. I can get him to bring it out to you.

I'm 10 minutes from Enfield junction M4. I can relay some books to you so you don't have to come all the way to Dublin - unless you're feeling brave ;)

Katie I also live in Kilcoole so it wouldn't be any trouble for me either. In fact if it's handier for anyone based in wicklow area that can't make it in I'll see what I can arrange.

I'd appreciate that if we get numbers in the Kildare area (I can pick it up when I'm home), otherwise I'll probably get it sent straight to Galway.

Can I ask please, is the 8 euros being talked about the delivery saving? Or is that the delivery + large print run saving?

We are talking only about delivery here.

So, who is going to set his own thread about Dublin Delivery group?

Well I'm in lucan and often in Dublin 15 area, so if I can help anyone out there no probs at all. Also hubbie gigs around Ireland so closer to the time I may be able to let you know anywhere else I can get to.

as I'm doing kerry I'm voting bulk orders how many people are from kerry in this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,484 ✭✭✭Quackles

I voted for individual post, purely for selfish reasons :D I just don't have the time or the energy to travel as far as I'd probably need to in order to collect them. And I'm shy :)

The handiest for everyone seems to be for batch delivery so I'll vote for that. There is a severe lack of boardsies around Limerick so would it be possible to hold one for me in Dublin until I'm up there next?I'm bound to be up there soon enough with all the rugby coming up.

Im based in cork but if the majority of peeps want to go with batch ill go with that!
I have enough friends up there that can send me mine

looks like I'll be delivering a bulk order of 1 to kerry :(. I was thinking of trying to include limerick and cork as well but you are probably loosing out with travel costs there.

If we want to throw in the Kildare/Galway books together, I can bring them down from Kildare.

So, because of recent evaluation of our little project, I would like to ask people who are willing to make order for a group of people from some area to create their own threads and keep all agenda in their hands.

There is no way we would like to force you to do so, but by ordering in bulk, you could reduce price of each print, not to mention sharing the postage. And the social part is that you are going to meet face to face other boards.ie nick names.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
