Commons takes place in the Dining Hall at (I think) 6:15pm sharp during term time and, again I think, at lunchtime during the summer. The 'bring out your dead' bell rings from around 6:05pm to 6:15pm, after which the doors are shut.

The above paragraph is most definitely open to correction.

I saw people going in and out of it today. I was wondering were they serving food.

They serve food in the dining hall at lunchtime every weekday. There is lunchtime commons in a room off to the side out of term and evening commons at 6.15 in the dining hall during term.

The best food in the college is in the dining hall at lunchtime, better than the buttery and far nicer than the hamilton, the student special was usually good value for money. Anyone can wander in for food between 12 and 3 in the afternoon

So do you have to be a Trinity Staff member or a registered TCD student to get into Commons at 6pm in Hogwartz and do you gotta pay for the food?
Can I get in at 6 if I'm not registered yet, Fresher?

Commons is a strange experience, get someone who has been already to come with you. There is a order to where you are allowed sit based on your standing in the College

You must buy your ticket a day in advance, its 19 euro though I think its increased recently. Tickets from the inquiries office.

You must be registered student or staff, but you are entitled to bring a guest if you so wish, obviously you must provide a ticket for the guest as well

First evening commons of the 08/09 year is Monday 28th Sept.

Grace is said in Latin, before and after the meal and you must stand while it is said and as the fellows of the College leave.

Sounds interesting. Where did you get the date for the first evening Commons? By the way 28 September is Sunday.
Are Buffet Commons any better? Is the Grace also said in Latin and close doors?

You're going into medicine, right? The school holds a special commons for JF medics early in Michaelmas term, you may as well hold off till then.

Opps its the 29th first day freshers week, I had to find out for other reasons over the summer. As with everything the inquires office know as does catering

I don't think you can go to the Buffet commons unless you are a fellow, scholar etc, not worth it. It not held in the dining hall. In fact commons depending on the date may be held in the staff dining hall not the main one. You always enter via the main dining hall steps, member off catering staff will normally be in the porch or just follow the crowd

Grace is always said in latin before and after. Doors close at 6:15. Most senior fellow present strikes a gavel on the table and everyone stands up and grace begins
