I had actually started posting this thread when I spotted
the very topic I was about to ask about on the photo thread!!:D

I've never been in my entire life so short of cash at the moment but I was planning my (long way off) next buy
and I decided I wanted it to be a Dragunov with real wood.

So my question is. What are my options?
What Dragunov's in airsoft are out there.
I thought I heard a while back that one of the clone
companys was due to realease a Dragunov in the near future but cant remember where I heard it.

Had my eye on the one in MIA for a long time but
    its pricey. it looks superb.

(Oh forgot to mention, dont care if its a springer or an AEG, would nearly prefer a springer)

The new real sword one is out soon.

No other dragunov is going to compare to this in terms of realism and build quality. Its an aeg, but with a brand new type of gear box, as per real sword the dimensions are correct etc.

JG - It's not even an SVD, it's an AK with an extended barrel as said above.

G&P - Gas Blowback, no hop-up, 430fps, very poor range. More of a collectors Gun, fantastic externals.

AtoZ/King Arms - AtoZ make the gun, and KA rebranded some of them with out wooden furniture e.t.c - Performance of these is stunning.

Escort - The dogs danglies of SVD's. Practically a real SVD converted to GBB. Externally powered with hop-up

Guarder/Inokatsu - They made a conversion kit, but it wasn't an SVD, it was more of an M76.

Real Sword - AEG. What motosam said :P

I have to chip in here and 3rd what Motosam & Beast have said.

I am not an AK fan, but I had the pleasure of playing around briefly with a Real-Sword Type 56 AK (both fixed stock and under-swing stock variants) in Sweden and I have to say ... I would have bought one had I had the means to get it home (along with that VFC light 50 sniper rifle). They are f-*-c-k-i-ng sexeh! Right down to the metal mags. Not cheap, but jebus do they look and feel like superb quality.

I wont be in any rush to buy one for at least another
2-3 months as got cash flow issues at the moment.

Real-Sword appear to have an excellent rep.
Cant wait to see what they bring out. Got a feeling
it would be way out of most people's cost range though!

Being honest for me I wont care about internals it will
all be about getting something as real looking and feeling
as possible. (as it will be for mainly display) If something is accurate and it could be skirmished with...its a bonus for me. (still a skirmish virgin)

    Was looking here earlier.

Real sword aren't too bad price wise, their ak's cost a similar price to vfc.

As an aeg, it should be very skirmishable.

The type-56 variants are roughly €400-ish, so not going to break the bank, but a good deal more than your average clone.

Sit and wait till they get cheaper?

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,261 ✭✭✭Puding

I don’t see them coming down to much in price, there is a strong demand for the items and the sell well, red wolf did have a nice promotion on over the Olympics, RS ak mags battery and other stuff with free shipping, was not a deal if you had the cash in the bank,

RS really are at the top of there game and would gladly pay the price for these products, you can by a clone for 100euros with the same fps that will mean you can play airsoft but with a RS product your paying for a work of art and collectors piece.

P.s have money sitting on the bank right know just waiting for the SVD to some out :)

Edit: thet also not only have the externals they also have some of the best gearboxs around at the moment

I'd love to get the polymer model RS dragunov, but can I wait?

Ugh, why do they have to release the wooden svd first and make me decide between instant svd goodness or the possibility of a long wait.

Hmmmmm, you know, i've never been an Ak lover, but theres just something about a Dragonov....it just looks the dogs back wheels! :D

The Dragunov isn't an AK, it has no relation ;)

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,533 ✭✭✭iceage

I stand corrected, thanks Fiach Dubh. Must check before I open gob again.:)

I can see why most people think it's an AK on the surface but the only relation it has is that's made of metal and wood. Easy mistake to make though.

That being said I'm busting for RS's SVD myself. A high spec SVD that'll be reliable in Ireland, saves me trying to source an AtoZ :D

I have my heart set on the polymer model now.

    /me wonders

Does it come with optics or without, as real russian optics are very cheap, and well, real :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,314 ✭✭✭Fiach Dubh

I hope it comes without optics, I'd rather buy my own. I also hope they'll offer the polymer furniture seperate at some point.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,758 ✭✭✭Stercus Accidit

Don't suppose polymer furniture is available after market in the us?

They do have those civilian "tiger" rifles there, basically a dragunov without the flash hider.

Maybe furniture is available from the usual sources.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,261 ✭✭✭Puding

you can already get hold of the real steel polyma furniture, seen it as us stores and at rusmilitary in the uk, have some pictures of it installed on kingarms/atoz svd see if i can find them again

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,758 ✭✭✭Stercus Accidit

    Including full skeleton stock?

Hang on, as its an aeg, would the grip need to be airsoft specific?

    I think it would :(

I've seen the real polymer furniture on the AtoZ myself. Just as easy to get it in Europe. That's my concern too Sam, chances are the real stuff won't fit :(

    Where are these on redwolf?
