So you finally took the plunge.. congrats! :)

Not videos, but check these out:

Beyond that, the books by David Pogue on Mac OS X are geared towards "switchers" from Windows:

Switching to the Mac: The Missing Manual, Leopard Edition,
    http://www.amazon.com/Switching-Mac-Missing-Manual-Leopard/dp/0596514123/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1221666697&sr=1-2

Mac OS X Leopard: The Missing Manual,

One thing to remember: things are simpler on the Mac side! It took me awhile to find where my "Control Panel" was when I first switched, cause I expected it to be buried in some menu, like in Windows... Nope - System Preferences is right there on your dock, along with most of the commonly used applications "out-of-the-box".

And if all else fails, just ask here, there are people here with answers to absolutely everything Mac-related!

I actually asked the guys in the apple store a few questions previous to getting mine. It was great .. they either knew or went to ask someone else.

I'd say ... find out whats bugging you / you can't figure out ... and post it up ...

I've learnt a lot from reading the posts here and while not an expert I know my way around it a few months after buying it ..

Macbooks for Dummies is great - don't mind the title. I got it for a couple of friends who read their way through it going "Aha!"

Do you have an iphone?? If you do i'd say its worth it for the push email, contacts etc. Although, even if you don't, its still decent service IMO. I like its integration with iWeb and i use that frequently. It's really just a question of whether you would use the services it offers

You can't by default. The green button is a Zoom button, not a Maximise button. In theory, it enlarges the window to the point where all its content will fit (no scroll bars, provided you have the screen space to accommodate this), thereby leaving the rest of the screen available to other windows so that you can multitask, rather than filling it with useless white space.

I say 'in theory' because, in reality, the behaviour of this button depends on what a particular app's developers made it do. So Apple apps tend to behave as above. Firefox, on the other hand, maximises as it does on Windows (and until version 3 filled three quarters of the screen and no more for some reason).

It's one of my few pet hates about OS X. I really like Apple's idea of zooming, I think it beats the Windows behaviour hands down once you get used to it, but the inconsistency between apps bugs the hell out of me.

The closest I've seen to replicating a Maximise button is Megazoomer, which will grow the current window to fullscreen using a key command. It only works for apps written in Cocoa though (coding language used for most modern Mac apps).

I got a MacBook in march. White plastic. I'm dissapointed in the hardware, ie the casing. The panel around the keyboard is too weak , it has a known issue for its yellowing and it breaks easily due to the strong magnets when it closes. Mine did both. The outer casting is easily cracked and the top and bottom casings on mine have slightly moved out of line, weak hinges, probably I'm a bit rough but it never happened with my other Dell laptop. So when its closed its not flush now. :( I had to get the logic board replaced straight away as it wasn't allowing my rj45 cable to click into place. I wanted to try apple and I wanted a smaller laptop than my Dell for portability. I'm happy with the OS. When they make a tougher laptop I'd be happier.

Brand new? The yellowing and cracking casing is supposed to have been on the first gen of the MacBooks, and new plastics have supposedly done away with the problem. Wasn't a refurb or old stock was it?

Apple issued a warranty upgrade for that matter actually. It now extends to 2 years instead of the normal 1.

I was up in Mactivate in Ballycoolin with my grilfriend and mentioned it to them in passing and they said it to me. I'm not sure how long I have my Mac tho. I think it's just slighty outside two years.

    Anyway I can check??

The outer casing isn't covered (I believe) because its due to me bumping it off things that caused the cracking in the casing. I admit I can be a little ruff with it but the plastic is just too weak anyway in my opinion.
