Has anyone any experience of using Camelbak Hydration bags?

I see a load of them on the Cyclesuperstore website but not sure which would be the best to get. Don't want a very bulky one, just one to hold 1.5/2 litres of liquid.

Appreciate any advice on their usefulness for long runs. (Or even for long cycles too.)

I use a Camelback Velocity 2.1l for run greater than half-marathon distance.

I got one in the goodie bag for one of the races I was in (it was a pretty high standard goodie bag!). Used it once or twice, but hated it. Didn't like the drinking straw dangling across my chest, didn't like the water sloshing around on my back and it made my back very sweaty (and the water very warm). Apart from this, it's an easy way to carry a couple of litres of water!

So I just took the bladder out of the bag and now just use it as a small backpack for carrying wallet, phone etc. when running home from work.

    Peckham,
You are right, some people love it ( i do!) while some people hate it..

Regarding water sloshing around, this is not my experience. If you are very carefully to remove air out of the blader at the start (and don't blow in it when drinking), then sloshing can not occur... The key is to constantly adjust the strap across the chest as water is drunk.

One big advance of carrying the bag.....no more friction (carefull under arm pit though), no more sore nipples:)

Are you doing the Dublin half on Saturday?

Unfortunately not. Every weekend of the Adidas Series this year I've had something on that prevents me from taking part in the race. Would love to be doing this race, as another decent half under the belt would be great. So far this year have only done one race (Longford Half)! Planning on doing the Clondalkin 10k the weekend after this in order to test myself...also it's my first ever 10k (not sure how I've avoided them up to now), so am guaranteed a PB, so that will boost the confidence!
