Looking for solution to drying clothes outside!

I generally dry clothes by using both the tumble dryer and a clothes horse. However neither of these options are the best for either the environment or the level of dampness within the house! I have a standard 3-bed terraced back garden in Dublin with no form of shelter in it at present. We looked into the option of installing a canopy over our back door. However this option is not be either the best (would not provide sufficient shelter for say a clothes horse) or the cheapest (approx €1,600)

Can anyone suggest any other solutions for drying clothes outside? A clothes line is obviously a no no given our climate.....

    cheers

I dry clothes on a line outside in our climate. You could get one of the retractable types that have a few lines and will fit along under your canopy.

Dizzyblonde - as I mentioned we do not have a canopy because it would not be effective and too expensive.

    Some suggestions would be great.

cheap as chips and if you leave the door and window open you should have enough breeze blowing thru it to dry a clothes horse full of clothes

How high is the spin speed on your washing machine? Ours goes up to 1200rpm, and many modern ones go even higher, and especially with synthetic or partly synthetic fabrics, most clothes come out only very slightly damp.

We then just hang them up on a clothes dryer in the spare bedroom and they're either dry enough in a day or two, or else they can be ironed straight out of the spin dryer as they're only very slightly damp. Hang them up and they're ready to wear the next day.

Never had any use for a tumble dryer personally.
