Hi, I saw on ebay that you can get eye shadow palettes from Mac. I usually just buy the regular individual ones and I am just wondering if anyone can fill me about palettes? Do you need special size eye shadows to fit into it or is there some way to fit the normal one?

    Any advice very much appreciated.

you would want to be very careful, i was buying a mac palette from ebay once, when i saw all the reviews of people saying they were fake. So i cancelled my order and got my money back.

yep, unless you're paying nearly Irish price, its a fake. you cannot get cheap MAC anywhere, especially from Hong Kong.

In saying that, I got a cheapy palette for about a fiver with 50 odd colours on it and its awesome!

Yeah you need to buy eyeshadows in pan format to fit into the pallet. The regular eyeshadows can be depotted and be put in but it's a bit tricky and can ruin the eyeshadow.

I think BT's on Dublin is the only place you can buy the pan eyeshadows for the palettes.

Are you talking about a palette with eyeshadows in it, or just an empty palette to store your depotted MAC eyeshadows in?

If you just want a palette, there are many companies that sell empty palettes that fit MAC eyeshadows. Here's one. (Talked about it on another thread, I'm not a shill, I swear!:D) MAC Pro stores also sell them, but you have to be a makeup artist to get them. Look around online and you can find empty palettes quite easily.

PS-This is useful if you're wondering how to depot them.

Thanks a million to everyone for all your help, the whole removing the eyeshadow thing looks very tricky!! Not sure if it is worth all the effort i might just leave them as they are

Fair play to that girl in the video!! I've tonnes of eyeshadows and it would be so much easier to have them all in palettes than a shoe box! I might try it. I'd just be careful with eyeshadow that contain glitter in them as they also seem to break rather than cream or frost eyeshadows.

Can you get smaller palletes from non-mac shops? I don't own that many shadows!! :D

Well I used to work for them so that's my excuse. :D I've banned myself from buying any more make-up!!! (it is SOOOoo hard!)

I don't know who else does those kinda of palettes. MAC do quad eye shadow palettes as well. You can get them in Brown Thomas, Grafton Street.

There's an American (I believe!) brand called ELF that sells quads for a dollar, that's what I store my depotted shadows in. They do fit MAC. I'm sure you could find them for cheap on eBay.

It is worth your while depotting your eyeshadows from their pots and putting them into pans because when you're finished you can bring back 6 empties for the back to mac programme and get a free lipstick! It's also much easier to keep track of all of your eyeshadows when you build up your collection
