Hi, my girlfriend brought her laptop to laptop lab to be repaired 2 weeks ago and since then have promised to contact her numerous times in relation to its status. Then when she calls them, I feel they are fobbing her off and don't really know what the problem is. They took 50 euro deposit. Is this refundable if they don't fix the problem? Has anyone here had any bad experiences with this shop? Thank you.

    Mods please move if necessary.

Should be in the "Consumer Issues" but don't worry about that. Easy mistake.

Fatal is right. You paying a basic fee for the time they have taken just to look initially at your system.
They are entitled to have it with for a 'reasonable" amount of time to access the problem but if it starts going into 3 weeks to a month and you hear nothing and/or it sounds like they are still unsure themselves, there is the greater possibility that you might have to take it else where to more educated repairers.

Absolute disaster of a place, they have my laptop for two months now (after gauranteeing it would be ready within three days). I've given up ringing to enquire as they don't seem to have a clue what's going on.

I'd be taking it out of there if it was me or ask them for a loan of one while they fix yours.
There's some crowd called tech fix I think is the name and the advertise in PC World behind the desk so must be okay.
No charge if they can't fix it afaik.

I accidently dropped my laptop and brought it into the laptop shop on Angier St. to try and get it repaired. They charged me €50 to inspect it, and when i asked what happens if you cant fix it, would i get my money back. They said "oh dont worry about that, we should definatley be able to fix it". After about a week of having it they rang me and told me it was ready for collection. When i went in they said that the mother board was broken and they therefore couldnt fix it, it was beyond repair. AND they refused to give me any part of my €50 back!
I wouldnt have minded so much except for the fact that my boyfriend later brought it to "Max Burns" computer repair shop on the Belgard Road, and they were able to fix it without any problems, and didnt charge me a penny to inspect it first. AVOID LAPTOP SHOP on Angier St at all costs!
