With all the bad news about hbos yesterday I was starting to get itchy feet as most of my saings are with halifax.

It looks like there's a good chance of hbos and lloyds doing some sort of merger.

How do people feel about halifax in ireland?

Is keeping savings there at the moment risky business?

hi ntl - this is probably good news if you have money in Halifax

again, if less than 20k, you don't need to worry anyway

(these markets are more exciting than poker, eh?)

i'm not sure how much has changed, but going by the data i came across in my brief stint in the banking sector at the start of the year, bosi/halifax seemed to the most secure of the irish banking liquidity wise.
