Just wondering if anyone had advice or knowledge as to companies within Dublin that specialise in Telecoms, along the same lines of work that Ericsson are involved in? applied for a job or two with them and waiting to hear back, area i'm quite interested in so looking for any other info.

    Cheers.

Op where will you be based? Athlone, beech hill or Dun Laoghaire.

I was in beech hill and found it a very good place to work, met some great people in there.

Of the operators meteor only really take on graduates. VF have a graduate program but its now pretty much defunct. I didnt see much of a graduate program while I was in 02 either but just apply for a job you like on their website.

Jinny software, changing worlds (nova UCD start up), there are quite a few smaller companies that you could get some good experience in, PM me for more details if you wish.

There are many, of which I have no idea who is hiring or not. Cisco were taking grands as were Ericsson, thereafter pick up the phone / get networking.

Off the top of my head:

    Accuris Networks
    Anam
    Aepona (Belfast)
    Altion
    Openmind
    Cisco (Galway)
    Ericsson (Athlone)
    Changing Worlds
    Openet
    Newbay
    AranTech
    Avaya
    Jinny
    ...

Again OP it will depend on what type of work you want to do.

Cheers lads, greatly appreciated. Helimacopter: Most of the ericsson ones i'm interested in are the dun laoighaire ones. Considered Cisco except really can't afford to relocate at the mo :)

Time to get cracking having a hunt around methinks - been back in Dublin a week and a bit now, and I can't REALLY sit on my arse anymore, or i'll go mad ;)

Didn't spend much time in Dun Laoghaire, but know a guy working there, he's just back from 6 months in South Africa, you'll have a great time aslong as you enjoy traveling.

Part of the reason i'm so interested in the Ericsson jobs actually - jobs involving large sections of travelling should only be tried while you're young, and living on your own ;) so figured now is as good a time as any. :)

Tis the best time, its not good traveling when you have a bf/gf especially for long periods.

I spend last xmas working in Kosovo...boy did I get an earful..
But also be warned some of these places you take your life into your hands...

    1) Nigeria -> 4 engineers held up and gunpoint (AK47)
    2) Gabon -> Plane was overloaded and crashed into field during take off (cessna type plane)
3)Kenya-> 1 engineer told that if he was seen outside his hotel he'd be shot

Thankfully the the worst to happen to me was a dodgy taxi driver but the above are stories from my friends.

The plane crash one was very lucky as about 200 foot more and they would have hit a building.

dont let me turn you off though!

    No :)

I meant I'd been to Kenya, not that I worked for a particular company. Sorry for the confusion.
