Due to an unfortunate lose Jamie Crawford had in England over the weekends that was supposed to be his warm up fight for his up and coming WMC/EMF European Title fight challenge against Alex Daly,
This Fight will now no longer be for the WMC European Title as Jamie has lost his place to fight for this title,
This Fight will still go ahead and will be a great match but with out a title on the line from either fighter's but this will effect both there place in European.

    Good Luck to Jamie

Fighter’s interview leading up to the Muaythai Super fights Explosion 1st of November Cork city hall Ireland

    SJP Interview with Alex Daly

SJP:Why did you first take up Muaythai ?
Alex: A friend from college had started doing it and I wanted to try it just to keep fit at first.

SJP:How long have you been training in Muaythai ? Since I was 18... I am 32 now so I guess around 14years.

SJP:Have you done any other Martial Arts ? When I was very young, I mean about 4years I done a little bit of Judo but not seriously and other than that, Muaythai has been my passion.

SJP:How many times a week do you train ? While I was living in Thailand I was training twice a day for 6 days a week but since my return to the UK I have been limited to only be able to do around 3 - 4 sessions per week. Training for this next fight though I will increase that to 6 sessions per week.

SJP:What gym do you train with ? I was originally with Dragons Gym but they seem to have finished since I returned and now they call themselves Carlisle Muaythai Gym so I guess them. But in the future I hope to have my own club, Team Demolition

SJP:How many fights do you have, What is your Record ? Currently its Fights 68 Wins 39 Loses 25 Draw 4

SJP:When did you have your first fight ? In Carlisle, I think it was around 1996 but can't remember the exact date.

SJP: Who you favourite Thai fighter ? Ramba M16 was a very entertaining fighter from the old days but if I was talking about todays fighters I would have to say Yodsaenklai Fairtex.

SJP: Who is your favourite foreign fighter ?Paul Slowinski & Dhzabar Askerov are currently my favourite fighters, possibly a little biased as they are both good friends and I have trained with them both.

SJP:Have you Trained in Thailand ? I lived in Thailand training and fighting for 5 1/2 years, I just returned to the UK this year at the end of May.

SJP:How was it training there ? It was a hard life style but I loved every minute of it and have no regrets about my stay in Thailand, at the time I made the decision to go I had an excellent job here so it was a big move, I never looked back though.

SJP: How many fights you have there ? 47 since I left the UK to live there but some of those fights were in different countries like Korea, Singapore, Australia, Ireland, Thailand.

SJP: Where else in the World have you fought ? France, Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea, Australia, Kasakhstan, Sweden, Ireland.

SJP:What do you know about your next opponent ? I seen him fight against Dzhabar Askerov in the Kings Birthday S1 tournament last year but he did not perform very well so I am a little unsure. I have heard that he is a promising prospect and a good fighter. But I guess we will have to see for ourselves.

SJP:What are your plans in the Future ? Look after my family first, open a gym in the future, and probably retire from fighting next year in my home town of Carlisle, I think I wanna finish where I started.
I just want to say thanks to Craig who I've been friends with for a long time and the Sitjaipetch Team for giving me the opportunity to fight in this great event in Ireland.

Thanks to Alex Daly for this interview and best of luck in the future from all your Fight Fans and the Sitjaipetch Promotion team its a pleasure to have you on our next promotion.

Interveiw with Jamie Crawford and some of the other fighters to follow shortly

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 218 ✭✭Siamdragon

    SJP Interview with Jamie Crawford
Lead up to the November 1st EXPLOSION in Cork

SJP: Why did you first take up Muaythai?
In the early nineties watching some of the Muay Thai greats such as Ronnie Green and Pele Nathan on Screen Sport was a great source of inspiration for me. From then I always favored Muay Thai over any other Martial Art but a lack of awareness of the sport and therefore lack of adequate training in Northern Ireland prevented me from practicing Muay Thai from an earlier age.

SJP: How long have you been training in Muaythai?
I attended my first Muay Thai class in Andersons town Leisure centre in Belfast under the guidance of Frank McConville in 1997, aged 19 and I have been devoted to the sport ever since.

SJP: Have you done any other Martial Arts?
From time to time I do a bit of training in Brazilian Jujitsu which I find adds some variation to my training regime. This helps develop my overall strength and allows me to improve on techniques used in my Muay Thai fights such as “clinching” and “grappling”.

SJP: How many times a week do you train?
I train about 5 to 6 days per week. Most days I fit in a run in the morning and training in the gym at night.

SJP: What gym do you train with?
    Sheran Muay Thai in Belfast.

    SJP: Who is your trainer?
    Frank McConville

    SJP: Who is your Promoter?
Sitjaipetch International Promotions run by Craig O’Flynn

SJP: How many fights you have, what your Record?
Altogether I have had 34 fights consisting of 25 wins, 7 losses and 1 draw with 14 knock outs. Over the years I have found it extremely difficult to get fighters to compete against me and this has resulted in me not having fought in England for 3 years. As a competitive and professional Muay Thai fighter it disappoints me that no English promoters have approached me to compete in their shows since 2005. As the current UK No.1 at 76kg I would love the opportunity to defend my number 1 spot for no other reason than a profound love for the sport and the desire for its promotion in the UK and Ireland.

SJP: When did you have your first fight?
I had my first fight in the World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand in 1999

SJP: Have you trained in Thailand?
Yes, I have trained on two separate occasions in Thailand for one month each time.

SJP: How was it training there?
I found the training incredibly challenging. The intensive training at the Sitjaipetch Camp and the overwhelming heat and humidity in Pattaya, where the gym is located meant that I was thoroughly exhausted at the end of every day. But being able to devote all day and every day to training when I was there helped me obtain my peak physical fitness.

SJP: What do you know about your next opponent?
I know that Alex has a very good reputation as a Muay Thai fighter. He has lived and competed in Thailand for a number of years and since the standard of training is so high in Thailand this is reflected in his performance in the ring. I think that perhaps in the UK he does not receive the credit he deserves but I will by no means underestimate him before or during our fight on 1st November 2008!

SJP: What are your plans in the Future?
To keep fighting and to keep pushing for Muay Thai to become more of a mainstream sport in Northern Ireland. A lot of people in Northern Ireland are still unaware of the sport and more worryingly are still unaware that Muay Thai has been taught here for many years. I intend to start up my own gym and gain members of all ages so that I can show Belfast and all of Northern Ireland what a wonderful sport Muay Thai is.
Im looking forward to my fight in Cork with Alex and I promise to be in the best shape of my career to date for this one its going to be a great fight for me and the Fans!

We would like to thank Jamie Crawford for this interesting interview and wish him the best of luck in the future and his next up and coming fight on the 1st of November in Cork city, We know all your Irish and English Fans will be supporting

    SJP TEAM

I must say i was seriously dissapointed with the show. The standard of many of the fights was terrible and it was obvious that the 2 thais were holding back on their irish opponents....was a complete disgrace. I was seriously looking forward to this show especially after all the hype that was built up by the SJP camp, but i just feel robbed by the display that i witnessed last night.
For a show that was that was tipped to be "the biggest and Best Mauythai Event Ireland's ever had to Date", all i can do is laugh and cant help feeling this show was more about making money...

Whoops, meant to lock this thread on Friday.

Siamdragan's on a ban for two weeks so it would be unfair for criticisms of his promotion without him having the chance to respond.
