Best public transport Dublin -> Mullingar on a Friday evening

Does anyone know what the best option for getting from Dublin to Mullingar on a Friday evening is?

The two options I have at the moment are:

Bus: Departs Busáras 1900, Arrives Mullingar 2030
Train: Departs Connolly 1905, Arrives Mullingar 2017

Which would be the most pleasant/reliable? Will they both be rammed with commuters or has the rush mostly died down by then on Fridays?

Is there another, better option that I should be looking at?

I used to get the 19:00 from Busaras regularly. You'll always get a seat if you get on at Busaras, and the delays are usually reserved for bank holidays and the like. I never got the train. I expect it would be more comfortable, and slightly more prone to cancellations.

The one advantage of the bus, IMO, is that there is another at 23:00. So you can happily go out for a pint or three after work, and even get some kip on the way home after.

The train is the best by far. It maybe a little more expensive but it is more comfortable than the Bus. On a friday evening it can take longer for the bus to get through with traffic.

Train is infinitely more comfortable yeah, I'd always take the train over the bus. The bus can get pretty jammed as it goes on. You'll get a seat, but it ain't pleasant.
