    Hey folks

Sorry if this is wrongly posted here but I'm basically looking for any offered advice. I'm 27, I've done a degree in Computer Science in DIT, I've been working for the last few years but I've finally decided that I don't want to do this for a career and I'm thinking seriously about Physics. Whether that's theoretical or practicle or applied is what I'm not quite sure about though.

Anyone have any pointers on how to decide, or if there's any way to get experience of what those courses will be like beforehand? I'd be willing to do voluntary work, etc. if it would offer me a taste. Any preparation courses or anything like that would also be considered.

I read generalised physics books along the line of 'A Brief History of Time' and... can't actually remember other names..., and certainly enjoyed LC physics class. More the concept and cosmology/astronomy side of it. I did honours maths but only got a D3, however with a motivating factor I feel I could do much better.

So if you think you can help me out I'd much appreciate it. Even if it's just to say where I should post this.

    Thanks.

Have a look at this http://physics.nuim.ie/astrophysics/index.shtml
If you passed higher leaving cert maths and already have a degree in Comp-sci with some maths you should be fine. Also you could probably get away with doing less subjects/modules for the first few years because of your previous experience allowing you to concentrate more on Physics.
