Could someone please tell me what happens if while in the states you get a misdemeanor and a court date but fail to turn up to court as you were back in Ireland when it was supposed to be on. The officer who gave me the misdemeanor said i could ring a number and pay the fine over the phone using a credit card but this was not true as there is no way of paying online or over the phone if the court date is mandatory. Surely they couldn't have expected me to fly back to the states for my court date to pay the fine??? If anyone has experience in this or knows the law for this situation could you please reply as i would like to return to the states at some stage in the future.
