Law Graduate- Alternative Options

Basically I have a language degree and a law degree. For various reasons I do not intend to pursue a law career. I have been looking for graduate jobs on all the major recruitment websites and checking the papers daily but am finding it hard to get any response or even find anything suitable to my qualifications. Has anyone got any idea of anything else I should be doing, websites etc that may be suitable for me. Should I go abroad to find work? Has anybody any suggestions. Am becoming slightly disheartened with my minimum wage job after so long at university. Any advice would be helpful:)

I do not intend to pursue a law career.

I take it that you just mean not a barrister or solicitor, if you are still hoping for something that uses your law degree?

Lots of large companies have legal departments that check that all the advertising, policies, documents etc are legally sound, and I don't think that all the people there would be fully qualified.

It's a competitive market though - there are lots of qualified solicitors that can't get a full time job, and are taking anything legal related to tide them over.

I know when I worked for a couple of multi-nationals in HR related functions, our legal advisors weren't qualified solicitors. The top dogs were, but the everyday ones (who were on very good money ;)) weren't.

If you want to work in the finance or banking, most places have a compliance department.

Type compliance into www.irishjobs.ie and you'll get loads of jobs

What about tax accountant? That involves quite a lot of law and I know large accountancy firms do look for law grads.
