    Hi guys,

can anyone sort me out here, I am booking travel insurance and dont want to go mad with it, ive a price of 36 euro for 2 people, in conjunction with having health insurance with VHI or bupa etc.

its with ACE, has anyone heard of this crowd or any feed back would be much appreciated,

i also need to know who has the current best exchange rate for the dollar and is a bank the best place or is their commission rate really high?

    thanks in advance

If you have a friend who works in a bank, get them to buy it for you. They generally get it without commission and at a better rate.

Or just buy it directly with Ace, cheaper than letting the banks have their commission.

in my experience with AIB and Ace insurance, i would not advise to go with them. While in Koh Phangan in Thailand, i got smashed with a glass bottle and and to be brought to Koh Samui for overnight observation. However once i was ok to be discharged, I waited over 12 hours for Ace to send thru a confirmation form. Also the "24 hour Emergency line" was useless. It would not answer and wen it did, i had to go through about an hours paperwork over the phone. then i waited over 12 hours for them to send thru the guarantee forms to the hospital. The Insurance dept. told me it usually takes 1 hour but every time we rang they fogged us off and said in was either on the way or would be in the next 20 minutes. finally they sent the guarantee...to the wrong hospital and the process started over. over 12 hours later I'm still in the hospital waiting for a page that should take half hour to an hour to come. I am not impressed with the service and will not be using it again. Previously in america with a broken arm, VHI were unbelievable. All i had to do was ring them up, tell them the hospital i was in and that was all i heard until I got a summary letter in the post when i got home. There is some difference in the quality of service.
