Elgato DTT and ntl cable.

    Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to manual tune the channels on my Elgato DTT. I got the frequency's from the NTL site, but when I try added a channel it keeps telling me I have no signal.

I have it tuned via the air aerial and when I try the co-ax cable I got nothing.

Is there an applescript to do this floating around anywhere?

    Thanks.

I may be wrong here but I don't think NTL broadcasts a DTT signal. Even if you have their digital TV pack, you can't receive any channels (well, other than the 17 analog ones) by just connecting a tuner/TV to the cable and you have to use their decoder. However, when you use the decoder, it outputs composite/S-video which would go to the respective inputs on a TV tuner/graphics card - this is not DTT (which is broadcast OTA in some countries). As far as I know the only digital broadcasts to date in Ireland, are some test frequencies from RTE with RTE 1, 2, TG4 and TV3 but I don't know if this trial is still going. Even if it is, those channels are received with an antenna connected to the digital tuner - not through NTL's cable point.

The trial channels are still running and are available through the NTL cable (possibly only in areas where the antenna can receive them. I see you're in Dublin so you should be fine). The antenna works either but I find a cable is less susceptible to interference from mobile phones.

Firstly, what version of EyeTV are you using? It needs to be version 3 as older versions cannot decode the new MPEG-4 standard which is now being used on the trial stations (you can get sound but no picture).

Now, my info is a little sketchy here because I'm using an EyeTV Hybrid and not EyeTV DTT. If you have an option in the Setup Assistant to say whether you have connected an antenna or cable, select 'Antenna' even if you have the NTL cable plugged in. Then you should be able to autotune the 4 TV and 4 radio channels.

If autotuning doesn't work, for me all the channels are located on 738MHz.

Right from reading the replies ( and thank you for answering) I was not clear enough in my description. I have an NTL cable internet with a break of for TV so I am only interested in the 16 analogue at the moment. The problem is that elgato does not detect a signal when I use the cable. using the aerial I get RTE 1, Network 2, TG4, TV3.

I want to get sky, BBC, etc.

When I tried to edit the channels I was the 738 freq, but NTL states that RTE is 192MHz and so on.

Has anyone successfully set this up?

    Thanks (again)

Unfortunately you'll need to buy an EyeTV Hybrid or EyeTV 250 plus if you want analogue. EyeTV DTT only picks up DTT (Digital Terrestrial Transmissions) and at the moment the only channels available on DTT in Ireland are RTE 1 & 2, TV3 and TG4.
