My daughter has moved to another town to attend college. She was on the job-seekers allowance during the Summer, and forgot to sign-on three weeks ago!! She is due money, and has asked me to sign on for her! I told her I didn't think this was possible and she said if I can prove I'm her mother then I can! Is she winding me up?

If you sign-on for her, you are breaking the law, only the claiment can sign on.She cannot claim JA while in College. She should have applied for Back to Education Allowance.

Yes, your daughter ( or perhaps you) is winding you up.

Why or how would you think it is possible for you to impersonate another person?

Incidentally, it would be a pointless exercise to even attempt such a fraud, as your daughter's claim is probably automatically closed as she is over due signing by three weeks.

I had no intention of breaking the law or committing fraud. My daughter told me I would have to prove I was her mother by bringing her birth cert, that's all! But I didn't want to turn up at the SW office clutching her birth cert like a fool, if that was not the case, hence I put out the question. Thank you.
