Phone line required for sky+ remote record ?

    Does anyone know if a phone line is required to use remote record on sky+ apart from the initial setup through interactive on the the box ?

    I have not had the phone line connected on my Sky + box since I did the setup (I own the box), so no, you don't have to have the phone line connected for remote record to work unless you are contractually obliged to do so.

    I would have thought you DO need the phone line connected in order for sky to let the box know the program is to be recorded?

    Issuing a Remote record to the box via text message does not require the phone line to be connected. Otherwise I would not have able to do any remote records for the last year!!

    hmm thats very interesting, I wonder how sky tell your box to record it? a bit of research is in order i think...

    You do need a phone line ONCE only to setup the phone numbers to be used with Remote Record.
    From what I remember you setup an account on the Sky website along with your mobile number. You then activate the Remote Record through "Sky Active" on the Sky+ box with the mobile number you used on the website.

    Once its all setup, the remote record signal is sent through the dish signal.
