Anyone have a driver cd for HP scanjet 8200?

We have a HP scanjet 8200. It worked fine. The supplied HP Director software was simple to use and outputted image/pdf/word doc formats well.

Unfortunately, had to rebuild PC. And the scanner driver cd was lost. So, no problem. Downloaded full software set from the HP site.

Big problem. No HP director software. All instruction manuals indicate that the software is part of the download. It is not.

All that is downloaded is HP Photosmart Essential which has limited scanning options, all around photos, so no format options.

Have now called four separate HP support numbers to no avail. Indian call centre muppets, they pass me from one support line to the next.

Am at wits end - if I cannot get the scanner working today or tomorrow, I'm going to have to buy another one. But the downloads on the HP site do not work (neither the full software package download nor the driver only download).

The scanner itself works - but only by using the buttons on it. And they offer only the most basic options AND will only 'scan to email' ie. no output options at all.

Help! The HP site is of no help. The software downloads are not what I need nor what came on the cd. The support lines are a joke. Half an hour plus onto UK numbers to no avail.

Does anyone have this scanner? Could you copy the driver cd? Would cover the costs involved.

Yup.

I think I've figured it out. The only way to use the HP Director (or it's new equivalent) is to go through the HP Solution Centre. The only reason I know this is that I started clicking randomly.

So the programs>HP>Scanjet>8200 has an option to register the product and a link to the user guide. Which gives NO indication that you now have to go through the HP solution centre which is a newly installed program located no where in the vicinity of the scanner. And given that this is a HP pc with loads of random HP crap on it, it's rather irritating that they don't give the user an helpful hints in the right direction.

Anyway, go through the HP solution centre which is installed on the start menu, above programs. There are no links to the program in the program menu shortcuts the install creates.

Will leave this thread here in case anyone else is similarly stumped.
