Read the instruction leaflet that came with the pill. If you didn't get one, go back to the chemist and ask for it. Ask the chemist what to do or ask your GP. A quick phone call should suffice here.

Don't be afraid to ask these questions. The pill is most effective only when taken correctly. Make a mistake and your chances of becoming pregnant increase.

Maybe someone else can provide you with the answer you need directly - I have no experience with Lavronelle

rule number one when choosing a doctor...choose one you can speak to then you wouldn't have to come on a forum!!
i think you should speak to your doctor again to get full instructions. if you mess up from taking the wrong advice then you may end up pregnant..
from my experience of the pill i did start to put on weight so i stopped taking them. also water retention from them. but i have the bar now, so much more convenient.

I can't believe your doctor didn't explain all of this. I can tell you how my pill works but I think there are different rules for different pills, for example, with mine, you leave 7 days pill free. Not sure how yours work. Didn't you even get a leaflet with it?

It's very important that you read up about it, particularily since you had to ask what happens if you miss one?!

Why were you so uncomfortable asking him these question? There's nothing to be embarrassed about at all. It's their job! Maybe you should look for a new doctor? He should have told you all of this stuff before writing out a perscription!

Sorry I can't help more, I don't take this particular pill, so I don't know if your intruction leaflet will say something different to mine! Best thing is to read the booklet you (should) have been given with it.

If you're uncomfortable speaking to your doctor, ask a pharmacist about it, I found this very helpful when I couldn't get a doctors appointment quick enough.:)

The pill uses hormones to prevent ovulation, thus preventing pregnancy. When you miss a pill, it's possible that you will ovulate as a result. It's unlikely if you just miss one, but still possible. You need to take 7 pills in a row in order to successfully prevent ovulation. Missing a pill in the middle of a packet is the least "dangerous" time to do so; missing one at the beginning or end of a packet is more likely to result in ovulation. If you do miss a pill, there's no need to panic. If it's taken within 12 hours of when it should be, you should be fine. If it's more than 12 hours, then take it and take your next one as usual (this may mean taking 2 pills in one day) and use condoms for the next 7 days as a precaution.

Faith, this could be completely inaccurrate information depending on the pill the OP is taking. I've never head of the pill that the OP is taking but if it's a mini-pill (progesterone only) then the window for taking this type of pill can be much smaller. For some pills of this type the window can be as small as 3hrs.

OP, please read the leaflet that came with the pill. If you did not get one pop back to your pharmacist and get one. While there have a chat with them about the pill as well. It's free and I've yet to come across a pharmacist who wasn't helpful and clued in on things.

    A.

what i would like to know is why a doctor didnt instruct her how to use the pills and why there isn't a booklet giving instructions.
    pointless post!

This is generally true of any pill.

However, please read the leaflet that came with the pill. If that doesn't answer your questions, then contact the pharmacist or G.P.. If you miss a pill, then the actions to be followed vary from pill type to pill type. DO NOT ASSUME THAT WHAT YOU READ HERE IS CORRECT.

Do not take any prescription medicine unless you are clear on the instructions to be followed.

Thread closed. I don't want misleading information to be circulated.
