Just wondering from the few who are actually members of clubs about the level of fighting and back stabbing that goes on. Is it rife in all clubs or is their clubs out there that actuallt all pull together. Just wondering, no clubs need to be named and shamed and why those it happen?

Yes, it happens everywhere. When I say everywhere I mean it happens up and down the country and in every part of the world. It's not restricted to Football, the GAA or Ireland for that matter. It happens in soccer clubs in England, basketball clubs in America and you normally only see it really and truly when you dig deeper into the club (plenty of them seem to be able to mask most of it).

It's life - people with agendas and egos and sentimental investment clash. Obviously, it's much worse in some places than others, and in some clubs, it's never an issue because it's kept to the fringes. If it's that bad in your club and that it affects you that much, I'd just suggest you either deal with it or leave and find another one. Those are harsh words, but honestly, I did it with a non-GAA sport a couple of years ago and never looked back.

I'm well aware it's never as simple as that, but when it gets to the level that it's affecting you personally and the club, something needs to give.

tribalism, egos are the main reasons.
You get those who are genuine behind the club - the workers and those who will volunteer for the club
Then you get those who will play for the club, drop their child off etc... and may be forced / coerced into helping
Then there are those who may play for the club, drop their child off and do nothing else for the club. they won't buy a lotto ticket, won't attend AGM's dinner dances, functions etc... but will demand a ticket for matchs

so somewhere in there you have a local community divided who can't wait to put one over their neighbour etc...
Even the very, very successful clubs have their detractors. Its human nature at work. Everyone has an opinion until asked.

But sometimes, these same people who have more input into the club and end up getting away with stuff because they are respected so well within the club. For example, refusing to quit playing on the first team when they are past it, because they know they won't be dropped (personal experience).
