Tax and my bike...

    Hi guys,

The Honda Innova 125 I'm about to get riding on has a slight problem.

    There's no tax on it!

My Dad was the previous owner and isn't quite sure where he has put the logbook or ownership dockets (sorry about the ambiguity on the terms...not sure of them!).

He says that if he cannot find them then we will have to go to the Gardai and tell them that the bike has not been taxed in about a year or so as it has been out of use that long (which is true) and that I'll have to get the the bike re-registered.

I was hoping to be on the road this week as I have the license now and have the money for insurance ready to go.

How long would it take to have it re-registered? Or is there another way that I can sort this predicament so that I can tax the bike and get it on the road?

    Any help would be appreciated!

If the bike has Irish plates you just need replacement documents. Fill out form RF134 at your local Garda station, have it stamped and signed. While you are at it get an RF100 stamped to say the bike has been off the road.

Bring both to your local motor tax office and request the new docs. Not sure, so check if you can tax it same day or if you have to wait for the documents.

+1, nail on the head there!

    Thanks guys sound out!

I got my license in the motor tax office today and they said fill in the RF134, go to the Guards and then send it off...I'd have a new registration book in 2 weeks then.
