Would like to know how to play my PS2 games online on my PS3, anyone know how its done? Every time I try to connect it says some along the lines of "Could not detect any compatible network devices " (depending on the game). If anyone knows how its done or knows of a site with a guide on it, it would be great!

What are the games? Nearly all PS2 online games have had their servers turned off by the publishers.

Yeah, I would say all those servers have been turned off. Most publishers only kept the servers going for a year after release.

Just checked, THUG servers turned off in July '07.

It also sounds like the PS2 emulation doesn't support network games through the PS3 network adapter.
