Meeting like-minded musicians.

    Hi folks,

I've posted on the boards a couple of times in search of musicians with mixed results - I think the best way to avoid confusion and time wasting is to be ultra specific so here goes.

I'm a 26 year singer/songwriter/guitarist. I've played in the same band for 7 years, which disbanded earlier this year - hate that.

I want to start a band but I've found chucking 3 or 4 musicians into a room - 2 or more of whom don't know each other, is tricky and very hit/miss.

So, I thought, it might be an idea to build things up first....

I would like to meet songwriters interested in collaboration to get things moving. The ability to play an instrument of some variety is crucial - sorry vocalists. I'm particularly interested in meeting piano/synth players that can might also sing and write.

Artists which I admire include Beatles, Nirvana, Turn, Kerbdog, Bowie, Elbow, Arcade Fire, Killers, Muse, Duke Special, Arctic Monkeys, Wombats, Fionn Regan, Manics, Beautiful South, Blur and on and on, I like to mix and match - Anything with strong melody, beat and harmony.

So that's the specifics... I'm based in Drumcondra, Dublin. I gig around town with mates and solo too ... I'd be very intent on gigging any possible collaborations - I'm not one for sitting around practicing in the garage for months and months til the sound is 'perfect' - that comes from live playing.

Finally, just in case you're thinking, good God, this is all very serious, it should be a bit of craic too! Just wanted to get my point across here!

    All the best,

    Paddy

p.s. here's my old band's: myspace.com/waifrock - not exactly where I want to take this but an indication of what I can do.:D
