Guy from a bricks and mortar shop in limerick was calling door to door in my area with a deal for existing sky digital customers.
Basically it involves us cancelling our current sky subsciption, and signing up to sky again (under a different name im assuming). for the 50 euro install, and 10 euro admin fee, id get free sky + box, and half price multiroom sky for 6 months (not sure on 6 months, think he said that) and a free standard box.
Is this a good deal? Seems ok, but wonder am i missing a big problem somewhere!

Problem is if sky find out he is doing this they may well turn off all the viewing cards involved. This has already happened to one dealer.

The current offer available from some retailers is a free Sky+ box or free Sky+ and one standard box (Multiroom) 50 euro is charged for install. Also, you get your Multiroom half price for your first 12 months - 7.50 for one extra box instead of 15 euro, and 15 for up to seven boxes. (He's pulling a fast one with the 10 euro admin fee - rubbish!!!). These offers are available to NEW customers only, but some retailers are going in hard with getting old customers to re-sign.

Existing customers are charged alot more as upgrades on their hardware.

Two sides to it. Existing customers have already had their existing boxes subsidised as above and Sky would say should pay upgrade prices. BUT, customers who have been paying Sky monthly fees for 5, 10, 15 years, would argue that they are the ones entitled to the special offers.

It's an argument I've come across so many times - hard one to call I guess.
