The River Suck will close this evening [15/9] and tommorow due to construction work on the new N6 Ballinasloe to Galway road.

Great idea that, I wonder if they could close the Liffey for Metro North ...and fine it if it starts up before it is allowed . Meanwhile not a word about the Claregalway Bypass yet in Galway.

They're lifting in the cross beams.
They had it closed from 11th to the 13th (last weekend) but didn't have the support columns completed in time.

Chris_533976, they're crossing beside a canal lock thats in daily use.

They dont have to close the runner.

What they do (or what the OPW want done) is that when the river is dammed there are usually "fish" pipes that allow water to flow upstream to down stream and allow fish to do the same if its need.

Waterways Ireland use this thing alot and they had one set up not so long ago on the Ashtown side of the M50 before the canal goes over the M50.
