I have, and he's right. It's terrible. One of the most frustrating experiences of my life

wow all reviews seem to be okay

playr gave it 9/10 and eurogamer gave it 7/10 (not a bad score)

    alot of 7 scores suppose

Yeah, think I'll be picking this up. 7/10 is a grand score. So what if it's not The Best Game Ever or something? I enjoyed the gameplay in the demo, and the reviews seem to agree that the secret revelation that apparently changes your understanding of the original trilogy is really as big as indicated, so as a SW fan I'd want to check it out just for that.

I found some parts frustrating, but the biggest complaint I'd have is that it's incredibly repetitive. Other then that (...) it's quite good, and nice to look at. It did manage to capture the "feel" of a star wars movie, which is half the battle I suppose.

Did they do anything about the Force locking system.

It was woefully inadequate/inaccurate in the demo

I don't think they sorted it. According to Gamespot it can be a nightmare locking onto stuff. Lots of bugs in the game too. And slowdown here and there. Pants. :( 1up rated it only 50%. Showing an average of 67% on metacritic now.

I'll be renting this one so (once gamesenders.ie gets stock that is ;))

I dunno, I played through the demo at least 10 times on differing difficulties and never got bored. I've heard though that this game is quite easy so I'll probably play through it on the hardest difficulty setting.

Think I'll trade Grid against it. Finding Grid too hard even with all assists turned on :D

Im really enjoying it. Im playing through the game now and its good fun. Lots of action, and im sorry, but HOW can you get tired of using Jedi powers to pick up **** and launch it at Tie Fighters and things. Ownage.

Where is the cheapest place to buy it ?

Played through 1st level with Darth. Was ok. Killing wookies got boring. Pretty rubbish ai too. Hate the way the bodies dissapear. Some pop in on the graphics, a little tearing and noticeable slowdown in places. Hopefully the story and more interesting levels will make up for the short coming, otherwise it goes back tommorrow and I get a credit note which I will use to buy Pure.

Didn't really notice much slowdown tbh but the game is what I said it'd be, eventually boring. It's always fun to throw star wars randomers around catharthically... but the actual way it's done doesn't feel amazingly intuitive and it ends up being a bit same-old, same-old after the second level.

Overall I'd say the game is quite pretty, but it's star wars pretty, so the clean bits in space look great but the rubbish "planets with personalities" look like ass - literally, in cases.

The main big-up for the game is that the story is actually likable, and does slot into the movies quite nicely. The animation is brilliant too, which helps make the game look like it was made with "actors"...

Some slowdown at the start and did notice objects just appearing on on the terrain. If you go into a game looking for this. you won't like it. regardless I for one like it, the stories not bad and there's so many ways to kill enemies its ingenius.

Some parts are a bit boring but finding new ways to kill enemies is fun..
One thing I don't like is the context buttons...when you've nearly killed the enemy and it switches to the cutscene. You're watching for the button icon and you don;'t really see what has happened..what idiot thought this was a good idea..I would have preferred something like the old arcade game Killer Instinct where at the a certain point you did your button presses and only then did the ultra finishing combo kick in..at that point you could relax and watch the finishing move.
It would have been no problem to do and would have been way better as long as they have a good few different moves for each of the big bosses etc.

Anyone find the black saber crystal?

I have to agree with Matt.

I really don't like QTE's anyway, but if you're going to implement them, then one possible way is this:

Have a quick button combo, followed by the move so you can actually watch it. Otherwise, you are actually concentrating on the small part of the screen at the bottom waiting for the next button to pop up.

They probably thought it would be more of a challenge this way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,473 ✭✭✭✭Blazer

As in trying to work out wtf you jsut did to kill the big bad boss? :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,971 ✭✭✭Flaccus

No, as in it's probably trickier to concentrate on what comes up on the screen, press the correct button, watch what happens and then repeat for the next sequence, as opposed to the simplicity of hitting a few buttons and sitting back and watching a cut scene. I don't mind QTE's. Used to them since the Shenmue days.

    jesus man..ur old :D

saying that the final scene where bringing on the Star Destroyer's a bitch...must have tried it about 5 times last night before giving up..
well at least the bloody thing wasn't a cutscene like what most ppl expected.

Alternate endings very bloody dark altho you do get a nice costume out of it, goes well with the black saber crystal.

I am actually quite enjoying the game. It is not the best thing ever but well worth a go!

Still haven't gotten around to finishing it yet. On the last level. Found a few bits frustrating, and there were a few bugs (Maris disappeared during our fight apparently fell off a ledge that didn't exist and Proxy disappeared during our fight and never came back) and there was one point were it slowed to a crawl for a few seconds. Overall though I've really enjoyed it. Looks great, the story is good and the gameplay isn't half bad. I haven't had much issue with locking onto objects really. There were a few times were I had problems, but 99% of the time I was picking up what I wanted to and hurling it where I wanted to. I don't mind the QTE's at all, although you do spent more time watching the bottom of the screen for the buttons than watching the actual move. I would def play it again once I've finished it though and thats the real test I reckon.
