Dunno if they're in shops but I do know they will cost the same as they cost on the apple.ie site.

8GB version seems to be the only ones available in stores at the moment. No idea when the 16GB ones are being rolled out.

I am heading to the states soon and was thinking of getting one of these. My question is once I put music on it do I have keep the music on my laptop or does it work like a memory card and I can just add songs and remove them as I wish or do they all have to stay on my laptop.

Sorry if this is a bit off topic, wasn't sure where else to ask

With ipods simply dragging and dropping music isn't an option, you have to use some sort of software, such as itunes.

Ideally you would want to have your music stored on your laptop as well as on the ipod (if you won't be doing this make sure to turn off all "automatic" syncing options). Through the use of 3rd party software it is possible to extract your music from an ipod (some examples are mentioned in the PMP FAQ here)

To get a feel for things it might be a good idea to download a copy of itunes 8 (it's free) from apple.ie and go through it's settings.

If you have any other questions feel free to IM me cos I'm doing nothing today...

You need itunes 8, older ones dont work.

You can put music on and connected it to a different computer and the music will still be there.

You cannot transfer music from ipod back on to pc.

also new nanos have a tv out, i didnt know or else id have gotten 16gb

and gyroscope games, and lots of extras.

Not such a fan of the new design. I was fiddling around with one yesterday and the shape feels really awkward to hold in my palm.

Was quite easy to slip in and out of my pocket...

Does anyone know if the new ipod nano's bought in the USA can be charged by Irish wall chargers? (Or old nano's for that matter?)

    Yes, they can.

You don't get a charger with ipods so you'll have to buy it seperately.

they all charge vis USB now, not through an electrical socket [although this can be purchased]
