Best place to buy Premiership tickets?

My little brother is an Arsenal fan and I want to buy him tickets for an upcoming game.

I went online last night, and there's quite a few sites offering tickets at various prices.

The reason I'm asking this here is that I've heard horror stories and various editions of Joe Duffy's Liveline about 'scam' sites. Some of the sites I visited last night looked far from Kosher.

Could anyone recommend me the best place to purchase tickets? I'm not a huge footy fan so I wouldn't even know where to begin.

    Thanks,

    DW.

without being smart the only way to avoid being ripped off or paying over the odd is to buy from the club, join their free e -zine ( electronic email mag) and you will be able to buy tickets in advance that will be going on general sale. also check out the teams program of games and go to an away match, its a lot easier to get these tickets as 90 % of tickets r reserved for home supporters, u will be sitting in the home fans area and no away shirt can be worn but at least the child will be able to see his heros and the cost of flight and hotels could be a lot cheaper

    I've used :
    http://secure.thomascooksport.com/arsenal_breaks.php

Price for 2 tickets, 1 night twin room , tour of ground ( not on the match day), arsenal museum.
start from 400 euros for 2 eg versus wigan
versus Sunderland 21Feb is 330 euro for 2
You have to add your own flights
The tour of the stadium is very interesting.

Or maybe approach a local Arsenal Supporters Club?

Simplest way might be join Arsenal.
    £33 (or I believe there's a 'lite' membership for £20)

Then you can buy tickets when they go on sale to red members, which is a month before the game. About £40 per ticket.

At a wild guess, £30 for transport to/from the game.

So if you manage to pick up a Ryanair deal and get flights for a fiver or so each way, that all adds up to about €140, if you only go to one game. Don't think you're likely to get them much cheaper off any of those tickets sites.

    Downsides:
    - You can only purchase one ticket per red membership
    - I think they've guaranteed that at least some seats will go on sale to red members for every game this year. But I wouldn't bank on getting one for United, Chelsea, Liverpool or Spurs. Everton went on sale Friday morning, I got one early and there were loads available, but happened to check lunchtime Sunday and they were sold out.

Actually, I've just worked out my costs for Arsenal-Hull this weekend:

Match Ticket 48.65 (possibly could have got a cheaper one)
Stansted Exp 14.00 (1-way to Tottenham Hale)
Gatwick Exp 16.90 (1-way from Victoria)
    Tube 7.00 (3 Tottenham - Highbury, 4 Highbury - Victoria)

    So that's 86.55, x 1.25 = 108 Euro. Add 12 for the flights, 120 Euro.

That's not including original membership fee of GBP 33, but assuming I get to only 4 matches this year, add 10 euro for this match.

When you arrive in London get an all day travel card for the tube, I think it
will be cheaper doing it that way then getting single tickets also saves on the stopping to get a ticket at the gate.

Cheers for that okidoki. I did check it out, but as Tottenham Hale is in zone 3 and Victoria is zone 1, it's £8 for a zone 1-3 ticket, and only £7 to buy the separately.

But, I reckon Oyster card is the way to go. The single fares are only £2.50 with an Oyster card. You can get a pay as you go card for £3 deposit, and it doesn't expire for 2 years. And you can top it up online. I'll be going over again in a few weeks, and probably again after Christmas, so looks like the best solution.

If you had bought an Off Peak Day Ticket Zone 1-4, it would only have cost you £5.90.

However as you said the Oyster card is the best as it's cheaper by far.
Just have to remember to swipe it every trip.
