Any news on how he got on at the weekend in the last IAAF meet or was he running?

Also how did the 100m go with Powell running - runs his best times when he is out in front IMO

Paul was beaten into second place by one hundredth of a second. A great performance.

Powell won by his usual 2 metres in 9.87.

I was over at the meet myself for the weekend. The track is being pulled up now and its the last meet ever to be held there. 20 years ago a Scot with Irish connections scored a famous goal in the stadium while on Sunday an Irishman with Scottish connections came within 0.01 of scoring a famous sprint victory.

Hession is now our number 1 athlete without a doubt I'd say. He is now one of the big boys and other sprinters from the US and Caribbean have a respect for him that can be hard to win in that field. Onwards and upwards and when he gets that first 100m sorted out over the winter and its as strong as his 2nd 200 his time could go even lower and a global final will then be on.

Ah balls, why didn't the two of ye say so and we could have had a boards.ie meet over there! :D We could have even held a boards.ie 100m race there on the track before it was ripped up (although I'd probably still not have finished two days later!).

Anyone going to Thessaloniki next year? I'm thinking of heading to the Worlds for the full week and half, but think Thessaloniki is just a tad awkward to get to.

What did ye think of Stuttgart? Was there in January and thought it was a class city; the transport system is awe-inspiring!

I was in a state of inebriation for most of the weekend and only hit the city centre in the small hours of saturday morning so didn't get to see much of it!!! We had gone to some club on saturday and after nearly getting arrested due to a "misunderstanding" we eventually went to some late bar in city centre and didn't surface until around 2 the next day and since we stayed in the hotel next to the athlete hotel would catch the athlete shuttle to the stadium. We got on and still the worst for wear the only free seats were down the back beside of all people Blanka Vlasic. To say she looked well would be like saying we were slightly hungover. A quick hotdog and beer for breakfast in the stadium and we were back on track. The shuttle back to the hotel after the meet had us beside Edgar Davids who was there with his buddy Patrick Stevens.

We went to the athletes party on Sunday. Crazy stuff and made a total eejit of ourselves. My mate had a dance off with Mike Powell and there was a bit of bump and grind going down with Chicherova and some of the other Russian jumpers too on the dancefloor. The american sprinters were doing their best to be Kanye West while the Ethopians were sipping tea and soft drinks.

Ended up in the lobby of the hotel drinking bottles of Becks which we'd got in the garage next door with amongst others the Russian vaulter Lukyanenko, Joanna Hayes, a couple of agents who I didn't know and Powell's coach Stephen Francis who was opening our beer with his teeth as we had no bottle opener. Surreal stuff to say the least.
