sound but no picture on digital tv

    sorry if this has been discussed/explained before but here goes - up till last month i could get the 4 irish channels and a few radio channels on my digital tv through the dvb (i think) thingy - now i know that it was a test broadcast than ended but today i got them back in audio only but with a blank screen on the tv channels - as i live in an apt i cant get a decent analogue reception -

    so my question is, are the signals mack in mpeg2 format or is it purely an mpeg4 broadcast that will allow me to pick up the audio but not video? - ive got a samsung le40m87 (i think thats the one but im going on memory so i might have the code wrong)

    any help / advice would be appreciated

    also - i know that ireland are going mpeg4 as its better but will it be dual broadcast as many of us have bought tvs that are uk models and as such have mpeg2 recievers? - i did try to find uot which i have but after trawling through the web i cany find any details as to the tuner in my tv - i guess mine would be mpeg2 as i got the tv a year ago but i cant find any info from samsung or any other site ive searched and googled

    no mpeg2 for ireland. mpeg4 only from now on.

    so can anyone answer my question - i am getting rte1,2tv3 & tg4 sound but no picture - is this an mpeg4 broadcast that my dvb is picking up but unable to decode the picture as it is premumably an mpeg2 tuner?

    yes. there are a few other threads with this info in it, prob why you haven't had many replies.
