Lads one of my farmers have told me they've seen 2 mink about 5 in the evening on a chipped bark track, he's worried about his beagle pups and poultry, there is a big no. of hares on the land and what I am wondering is whats the best way of dealing with these little fury fellows. Is it true that besides shooting him, if I bury a 3ft. lenght of 6inch pipe straight down and put a bait in the bottom the mink will climb down but can't reverse back out and can't turn??? any help welcome.
    cheers FS.

    Hi fish slapped

AS far as I know there are two options in terms of trapping. Various options have been discussed here before you should do a search.
for the pipe option as far as I know the pipe should be buried about about 45 degrees with a stone at the end to act as a stop.
Another option was a floating trap posted here before - cant seem to attach it now as it exceeds the site limit.

After that do a search on here for previous threads.

    Regards

If they're that regular I'd chance a shot. Silenced .22 sounds like the type of medication that would be quite appropriate.

theres also the .223 from a ridge which over looks this track where they were seen.

find a run and set a rat trap cage with a bit of sardine in it and catch and kill the little feckers!

Maybe the local club will pay for a trap and that way you don't have to pay for it but will have access to it when you need it :D

the local club is thighter than me and thats bad. they wont even release a few pheasents, so I tend to let them go their own way.

Loads of grants\discounts available from the NARGC to clubs to buy traps.
Any fishing clubs in the area, normally good guys and might have also have access to traps..
