    Hi All,

I'm looking to spend around €900 on a racing bike. I'm looking for something with a 58'' frame, Shimano 105s (or better). I'm half thinking of buying online new from the States, but would still like to find out what this sort of money would get me in a used bike here. If anyone has a bike they're trying to shift, then please let me know. I'm willing to spend money, and am not just interested in browsing!

    Thanks
    Stephen

You'll need to specify a frame size.
What I'd be tempted to do, is look for a fixer upper. Get something with a good frame/fork, etc, but has been let go, gear and wheel wise.
I did a similar job with my trek before, and find it's a great bike now.

You might try Stagg Cycles out in Lucan. They do trade-ins when they sell new bikes so they often have pretty decent used road bikes on offer at - occasionally at least - reasonable prices.

(For the record, I am in no way affiliated with said company.)

I'm guessing you mean 58cm frame. Do you definitely want a second hand bike? For what purpose will the bike be used, i.e. what level of road cycling would you be going for?

Thanks for the responses. I was enquiring about second hand bikes just to figure out my options really. I do a good bit of running, and would be interested in getting into duathlons, or even just some entry-level racing. I've been looking at RA Cycles based on a recommendation and reckon they might be my best option (for a Felt or some such).

I'll be sure to check out the place in Lucan anyway. The specialised bike is v nice but a little beyond my means at the moment!

And of course I meant 58cm, not sure where that came from...:(

Second Hand?? Noooo...not with that budget

I bought this bike a month or so ago - http://www.zerogcyclecorp.com/zerog_bedminster/bikes/bedminsterbikes_files/a_010.jpg

full 105 groupset, light, looks fantastic, rides like a dream.

bought it from here - http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/17191/Cube_Peloton_Bike_2008

Cost euro880 delivered to my doorstep....

my advice - there are fantastic deals to be had across the water if you know what you are looking for. I guarantee you won't get a bike with the spec of this one for under e1200 in Ireland.....
