I was always a fan of Azureus on the PC ... hence I picked that when I moved to the mac. No complaints.

Though the Vuze aspect of it can be annoying at times ... but nice at others if you're looking for a distraction.

Cool, downloaded that there, any tips or tweaks you can recommend for it or will I just work away?
    Nice one

Cool, and is "The unarchiver" the best unarchiver for the mac?

It's the best I've found for handling multi-par RAR files, which I'd imagine you'll have to deal with if extracting torrent downloads. It's kinda glitchy when you add a few files to un-archive all at once, but otherwise it works great.

Been using Transmission since I switched to OS X about 2 years ago. Not a bother with it.

I have tried absolutely everyhting over the lasy few days to sort out my closed port.. And it just remains closed. I've forwarded ports. Set up static Ip address. It just remains closed. Hugely frustrating.

Eh . . ok ?! I think we might need some more details. What program are you using - what port - what router - what ISP.

    ZEN

I opened a closed port by changing it from:

    Portnumber>10.0.1.201>portnumber

    to

    Portnumber>10.0.1.2>portnumber

    if that's any help.

I'm still having problems (see separate thread), but that kind of worked.

Hey.. I'm using Transmission.. With a netopia wireles router with Eircom ISP. I am using port 59152.. I think, and I can't be sure if this that this has happened since the last security update (005). But then again it might be the updated version of transmission. It's strange. I am getting speeds of roughly around 20-30 kbs but I downloaded the new version of NeoOffice through torrents and got 300-350 Kbs. Maybe it is nothing..

It depends on how well seeded the torrent is and how many leechers on it. You could be downloading two files from the same tracker with very different speeds - if you were getting speeds close to your maximum capacity with even one torrent (in this case NeoOffice), then you don't have port forwarding issues.

the website that it uses to check the ports is down.

See the thread Port Mapping with Airport (or some such) above this.

it took me a while to realise this too, more seeders the better

uTorrent for Mac OS X finally seems to be getting closer to release:

Seems like Transmission may have some serious competition soon. I still think Transmission is a great BT client though.
