Non/EU arrivals at customs

    Hey all,

Sorry if this has been asked before, searched but couldn't find any other relevant posts..

I'm going to Dubai on Monday from Shannon with a stop-over in Paris.

When we come back from the last leg of our flight will be Paris -> Shannon in this instance when coming through customs should we be coming in through EU originating destinations, or non-EU originating destinations?

Some people have told us we should come in through EU arrivals to avoid any customs searches (not that we would mind anyhow as we won't be bringing in any contraband or anything illegal etc..) is this possible though with stop over flights?

i'd use the EU channel tbh. you'll be going through a non-EU channel when you arrive in paris so i wouldn't see the problem with going through the blue channel on arrival home. i done that a couple of years ago, came home from luxor, egypt via manchester and went through the non-EU/no goods to declare section in manchester and the blue channel in dublin.

You're supposed to go through the non-EU channel but I see people taking the EU channel one the whole time and rarely if ever being stopped.

I travel home from middle eastern destinations often and always take the non-EU channel and other than the usual question of "where are you coming from" and banging my bags through a x-ray machine i've never had any issues.

Even though last time i had over 5000 cigs in my bag ...
