So, I got my smexy marshall mb4410, think I should probably upgrade my bass because <insert reasonable reason for spending more money on gear you dont need here> .

I'm playing an ESP LTD B-50 at the moment, I like it but I worry about not having a backup and the input falling out on stage or something... What would you guys recommend on a 4 string mid-range bass? How much should I be looking to spend?

The style of music we seem to be playing at the moment is a mix of muse/kyuss/klaxons/god is an astronaut/ a weeeeee hint of grunge although I seem to be the only one that notices!

Any opinions? Cheers!

Just thinking about it, would a 5-string be worth the extra range?

These Ibanez ATKs are incredible basses. Extremely versatile triple coil pickup, can go from almost-stingray bite to the smooth thump of a precision and lots in between. Solid yokes too, and the mid boost is at the perfect frequency for cutting through a mix.

Comes in 5-string too, you might consider getting a 5er. The extra B comes in handy sometimes, and it's better to have it and not use it than to need it and not have it!

I'd recommend a G&L Tribute L2000. The "L" stands for Leo......... as in Leo Fender. Tone wise it's very versatile and those two humbuckers are very hot. It has an active/passive switch. It's a great bargain at this price IMO ( even allowing for shipping and import tax ). You can see it demonstrated here ;

Shipping costs are about €100....give or take a tenner!

Don't forget to allow for almost 25% tax on that total to be paid to the postman.

So what you're saying is I could have got that piece of sex for about 30-40 eur more than the price I paid for my SRX700 5 years ago? And 100 less than the price of it's equivalent model today? Daamn. Including delivery from halfway across the world, it's still half what I paid for the SR1005 last year.

I can't find the model in the link on their page but I assume it's one of the hand made ones because it's about Y40-50,000 more than the non-handmade ones - if so, it must be second hand because it's over Y50,000 less than all the other hand made ones.
