AppleCare bought in States - does it cover Ireland?

Hi All, does AppleCare purchased with a MacBook in the States cover me at home in Ireland? For example, if I need to get a replacement battery etc?

Sorry if this question has already been asked, I've spent some time searching but can't find the answer.

Yes it does. Worldwide warranty on Apple portables.

Nope. Warranties in Europe are usually one year (though they extend to two years for certain consumer electronics by law, even though manufacturers try to get away with one). After the one year warranty period, if it breaks, you're out of luck - you'd have to pay for a repair, unless you have Applecare.

With the XBoxes, you're thinking of the three year warranty which relates to the "Red Ring of Death" issue - and only this issue. The standard warranty for an Xbox360 is still one year for any other problem. And this all came as a result of Microsoft's massive bad press on the matter, not some legal requirement.

It's worth buying in the US for use here, it's way cheaper. And considering the propensity some macbooks (my own included) have to have pieces crack off the casing, it's a good investment.
