    hello all

I was interested in doing krav maga but you can only do a 12 week course as far as i know. Does any body know of any regular classes in dublin I can sign up for or are there any plans for a club in the future. Im also interested in a beginners class for muay thai.I am undecided, Any view's really appreciated.!

    Cheers
    Dave :)

Dave, there are various Krav courses/classes..
check out and enquire for proper details at:

    www.kravmagaireland.com
    www.kravmaga.ie
there was another guy who had a website which has disappeared but he taught classes in the city centre - Robert (0862199871) - I can't personally vouch for him though as I never attended any of his classes

    Hope that helped...

    Just my 2 cents;

You'll learn to be a much more capable hitter with Muay Thai. You'll be functionally stronger as well as understanding combat more with that.

Bridgestone Muay Thai in Stoneybatter have a beginners class 4 nights a week and it's about the price of a pint for one class. I think they start at 7pm but don't quote me on that.
If you want to learn how to hit hard in a no bullsh1t fashion then train thai. You get the added benefit of training in a ring sport too.

Thanks very much for all your views and help. I think ill give muay thai a go.:) I did a bit of boxing years ago but at 30 years of age do you guys think I would be a bit too old, although I would not be considered out of shape!

at 30 you might not become world champ but you can get fit and add to your boxing with kicks and knee's etc.. getting fit while learning and having fun..thats where its at!

Ohhhhhhh how I wish I was 30 again, or even in my 30's!..

I think its Cowzer or was it Dragan who has reminded me more than once of my advancing years!.

Seriously, at 30 you'll be grand.

OP, I'll join in and add my support to krav maga for old fogies.

I started it at 30. It's great fun, and a useful skill.

I much prefer it to other more traditional martial art that I've tried before. Everyone to their own, though. Try both and see what you think.

    good man tallaght01

I really like the look of this krav maga stuff, easy to use if you get into strife. The trouble is after you do the 12 two hour sessions there doesnt seem to be any clubs/regular classes i can participate in. If I could find classes I could attend on a regular basis id definitely sign up. Any one any Info on classes currently in Dublin or due to start soon?:)

Hi mate, I trained for the best part of five years with Pat KM Ireland, so there are defo follow up classes. Do the 12 weeks first and see what you think, as the other posters suggest you may want to try some different. However, there are plent of follow on training options for KM out there. Hope that helps and best of luck with it.

    Hi dcdc,

Aiden Carroll in Drumcondra has regular Krav Maga classes (www.kravmaga.ie). I train regularly down in Cork and love it. As well as being over 30 and the only woman training in a class of blokes when I started, I was really unfit as I had no regular training for years and had caught meningitis the previous year.

I have to say physically I have never been stronger, fitter or as flexible as I am now so give it a try. I'm completely hooked.

    Good luck
    Caroline

    Hi Dave,

Delighted to hear you'll give it a try. You've nothing to lose (except sweat and dignity ha ha). On a serious note, krav is great. Everyone who trains is really supportive and encouraging and did I mention it is fabulous for aggression levels:D.

Give it a try and let me know how you get on and hopefully I'll see you at some seminars.

    Caroline
