Boxes were probably left behind by previous owner in your friend's case, and may not yet be deactivated by UPC (NTL).

Luck of the draw. Someone else paid to get them in first.

I think the OP just wants Analogue (correct me if I'm wrong).

You could try to get a good electrician to do it or just run some cable yourself. I think they do charge for additional analogue points (which is nonsense) but if the house is pre-wired, they don't know about them.

I thought that until I re-read it and saw something about setting up the box...so I then had a change of mind. ;)

Is it analoge or digital, Clare06?

Ah, box on wall implies point to me. :p:D

OP, if just analogue, see if a handy friend / electrician will do it. If digital get UPC to do it. :)

    In your face MJM. :p:D

Clare, what is the distance between the rooms? You may be able to run a cable to the other one. Video senders is another option. It's a bit messy though.

Do you have any electrician / techie friends? Some of them could help you out with best method to do this. I use a video sender to send my digital to my bedroom. I'd prefer to pay for a point but it would be near impossible to get a cable to my room.

You could try running a length of cable if it's possible.

Video senders send the video wirelessly. They have to plug into a scart socket so you can send the signal. You could either plug it into the back of a digital box or get a scart splitter.

We got them installed 15euro each point and free subscription. We did not have NTL for a good while and they kept offering better and better deals. This is not the usual case. And they would put no more than 4 points in the house though, we put another in ourselves.

15euro each is a good deal, it is proper cabling (do not skimp), but the sub would put me off if I had to pay it.

It could be a loose cable or a setting. Some of the senders have a few channels, (1,2,3) make sure they match. TBH it could be many things, hard to know with out seeing it. If the second TV is small, bring it into the same room as the first and see if it works there.

Yep, scart often still "half" work when plugged in, you really have to jam some in hard, if half out the sound can still work. Also keep pressing AV on the TV being sent to, it could be on a different av channel, and try it in a different scart on the TV being sent to. If there is more than one scart find the one labelled "scart 1" and plug into that, this can sometimes have more connections on it, e.g. RGB might only be on scart 1, and not scart 2.
