The College alcohol policy is a formidable and overbearing beast. There would be holy war if the College Bar was offering drink deals on a grand scale.

The document that as good as killed RAG Week, strangled socs and clubs sources of funding, the College Bar's ability to run drinks promotions and life-in-general around campus in UCG.

    Surprisingly lacking in loop-holes.. :(

    Whats the college alcohol policy?
The general gist of it is:
    • No money for socs to spend on booze
    • No alcohol promotions on campus
    • No thinking about booze
    • No sweetheart deals with pubs
    • You are in no way responsible enough to be allowed near booze
It has been an impressive initiative insofar as following it's introduction 5 or 6 years ago, not a single student has become intoxicated. Moreover, 85% of all first years are unaware that alcohol exists.

Lolz that is pretty impressive. Tbh you aren't missing out by not having any promotions, it tends to mean the booze you order is watered down so you get less drink and it tastes worse than normal, but is a little cheaper.

There are NO drinks promotions in any of the clubs in Galway apart from Club K which isnt a nice place. The city is a rip....still love it tho;)

It was always empty back when I was there in '99-'03 so not really surprised that it still is. Never had much in the line of drink promos then either.

I didn't know we had an alcohol policy.

Makes for some odd reading though.

Was in the GMIT (unofficial, I think?) bar the last day, 'the Library'. Now that is a real student bar! Corona, Miller = €2.50. Pint of Foster's, €2.50!

The whole idea of a college bar is to have drinks promotions, because we're all poor! Wish the College bar in NUIG was like that:mad:
