I took my 400D out for the first time today, just using to automated settings first off with the view to experimenting with manual settings soon.

When i got home and checked out what i took, i wasn't overly enthusiastic, however i managed to salvage the following. Just click on them for a larger view.

    Many thanks:)

I liked 3, 4, and 6, lovely captures. The lamp in 5 is kind of lost in the background for me, but it's a nice subject in itself.

Congrats on your new baby btw, get stuck in to those manual settings :)

Heh, didn't even think of that, just thought it was something stuck on it's foot.

I am indeed happy:) Still have my head firmly stuck in the instructions though. These were taken in Regina, Saskatchewan in Canada.

Yeah the lamp is completely lost in the original picture, but it's my favourite subject of all of them.

    I do, i do!!!

#1 and #2: Both are good shots, i like #2 more, but love the shape of the bird in #1. Question about #1, did u sharpen or increase the clarity? because the bird looks a bit superimposed (although im sure its not)

#3: Nice symmetry, but theres nothing that really grabs my attention in the picture. The sky is also a bit blown out. (try it in B+W)

#4: Nice shot, good composition and contrast. Im not really into architecture though, so doesnt excite me.

#5: Doesnt really do anything for me personally. Not very much going on in it. I do like the sun behind the tress in B+W, but its quite noisy and not much going on as i said.

#6: Nice. I like the B+W conversion, with the leaves in white and the tress very dark, works well. Nice composition too.

#7: Very nice. Im a sucker for letter box type scenic photos. Well done.

#8: Seems to me to be more of a "snapshot" type photo, by which i mean not very artisitc, more like a shot u would show ur parents. DOesnt really appeal to me.

    #9: Very nice.

Overall, i like them. Great variety of shot and PP. Good work.

I think they're great shots. Maybe if you use a polariser for deeper blue skies? If you want to use manual (very quickly) and easy to understand then buy this book

You will find it invaluable. I certainly did. It was recommended to me here.:)
