I was just wondering after a chat with a beetle owning friend today,is it possible to convert the front drum brakes on a beetle to discs easily enough, and what parts would be needed, and if you were to upgrade a 1200 to a 1300 or even to a 1600,would the 1200 gearbox do,or would that have to be changed too?
    Thanks lads..:)

I've had mine converted over a year now, didn't do it myself but I believe it's handy enough. Bought the conversion kit from the States, cheaper than UK:

Pricing is good alright. How does it fair out after excise , vat, and postage to Ireland.

Cip1 have a Fedex calculator, add around 28% to the total.

Second hand disc spindles, new discs, bearings, seals, flexi lines and calipers and you're done in an hour or so.

Get new parts from Martin Murray, Otto or GSF and save on the postage. ;)

1200 box should be fine, fast off the lights too. :D

Never used Martin Murray before. Does he have a good stock of stuff for beetles.

    Money talk, how much?

I was looking at the conversion my self a while back, all 4 wheels.

I doubt you'd need all four - beetles are very light and too much braking will just lock the wheels.
