I actually got the 3 red lights last weekend and I'm out of warranty. I'm prob going to buy a new xbox (Arcade) and use my old hard drive on it. I'm also probably going to do the towel trick to it as well since there isn't really anything to loose....

    The way I see it:
    1. Get the xbox fixed and wait for it to break down again €110ish, probably have to pay postage on top of that.
    2. Buy a new console core system and get a full warranty with no previous damage €209.

I'd say that extra €100 will be worth it.

They do. They'll fix the RROD issue for up to 3 years from the original purchase date. Of course the OP's console is cracked so that's the problem - he can't really send it back to MS for repair anyway...

Oh right sorry - didn't notice jv2000's post. You're right, he should be able to get it repaired under warranty. If you have the RROD issue, you can't possibly be out of warranty since 360s have not been around long enough :).

That's what I thought, I only have my Xbox360 for 2 years but when I put my serial number into the Xbox website it said I was outside warranty.....

Ring the helpline, don't mind the website. The warranty for RROD is 3 years.

Yeah give it a go and see what happens. Get it repaired.

I'd trade it in when I got it back and get a new one if the cost works out in your favour over just buying a new one as if you have gotten the red light, you'll probably just get it again from the returned XBox.

Thanks guys, I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what they say. If I could get it fixed and offloaded that would be great :D
