Integrated Freeview + Dish?

I hope this isn't a completely brainless question - I was looking at a TV in Argos (NI) with integrated Freeview and was wondering if this would work in ROI with a satellite dish?
I have a Sky digibox and dish (no subscription, just FTA, UK card) and would like to know if I could use such a TV with the same dish and get Freeview?

No, Freeview is terrestrial telly, broadcast from masts on mountains. Satellite dishes only pick up signals from satellites. To get Freeview you need an aerial and to be close enough to a UK transmitter to pick up a signal.

You're thinking of Freesat, which does work with a Dish.

The UK freeview (The via Aerial Digital) tuners won't work on our system launching next year.

Freesat is pretty much what a Sky box does with no sub, except if you persuade your Digibox to show UK EPG (Pull out card after going into Sky Interactive on Sky News 501, press backup, ignore error messages and don't put card bacK), you'll see most of the missing Freesat channels. Only ITV HD and BBC HD and C4 HD missing.

Argos stock Panasonic PZ81 HDTVs which have integrated Freesat and digital terrestrial ("Freeview") tuners. They are also compatible with the Irish MPEG4 DTT system. However, Argos are also ripping off ROI customers with these TVs, so you might consider buying elsewhere if you can buy them cheaper.

So I could get Dave then, which is missing from the Sky box lineup at the moment? Wow, thanks for that! :) Would I definitely keep Channel 5 and the ordinary Channel 4? I would be murdered in this house if I lost those! I only have this set-up about a month and I don't know anything much about it.
Thanks to all who replied - much appreciated!

I have noticed this rip off - and not just from Argos - as a result of pegging the currency conversion for the Euro at a rate not seen for a long time, often as low as 60p . I would love to see a thread naming and shaming these firms - would that be allowed somewhere on Boards? I recently challenged one UK Photo developer, but got nowhere and I'd love to warn others about their shady practices.

Sky themselves are doing the same ;(

Compare and contrast the subs here and in the UK.

You won't get Dave - That is only subscription-free on UK Freeview. You can't get it with a satellite receiver without a subscription to Mr. Murdoch.
