    Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone has bought an iPhone in NI and brought it down south without any issues? I'm thinking about the possibility of traveling up to buy one as they are cheaper there but my intentions are to unlock it onto my Meteor once I get it. I have a few Q's as a result..

Do you need to setup your monthly bill pay when you buy it in the store? I heard that they let you take it home to get it activated now. Or does that only apply if you are already on the O2 network?

If I bought a couple of them would there any issue bringing them on a flight from Belfast to Cork? Are they strict on that kind of thing?

    Cheers

you can't unlock the 3G iPhone yet so you'd haveto stick with whatever SIM card is in it i'm afraid!

You need to sign an 18 month contract with O2 UK to get an iPhone in the UK. You also need a passport and proof of UK address.

You are credit-checked when signing a contract so you will only be able to get one. It is only locked to O2 UK and cannot be unlocked at the moment.

You could only activate at home in the US

You missed the boat/plane:D on the 2g models which would have worked with Meteor. They were selling off the 8gig version in June for £169, just walk in O2 store pay for it and walk out the door...no activtaion required in store. You might pick up 2g models on Ebay as they offered 2g customers free upgrades to 3g handsets and let them keep the 2g phones.
